I work with a wonderful group of experienced citizens, and they go out to eat once a month. Most times the service is great, other times the food is not that great, well being with seniors it can some times get out of hand with their wants. I like to be fair to the wait staff and tipping can be a problem for me. So if you could help out with a tip chart, that would be a great help for all concerned.

hello, i think it is so great that this website is up. i have worked as a waiter in the napa valley for 7 years now and in my restaurant a poor tipper usually means i am out of 30-40 dollars on one table. every freaken person who tips crappy should go to this webpage!! thank you.

I am very happy to find a place where all us servers can vent. I am a lead server so I typically have more tables than others and am always asked by management to take more tables than I should or help the " more needy" ones. With all these tables going lunch rush and me being obviously very pregnant could they at least tip? I can't afford to pay for part of your meal! If I could I surely wouldn't be waiting tables at 8 months pregnant. Please don't tell me you can't afford to tip 20% when you just bought a $20.00 steak dinner for your four year old child. I certainly can't afford it!!!!! This isn't McDonald's. Tipping is part of the meal.One important thing for customers to know:"Your server will never forget a bad tip"!!! Next time you come in we will let your server know and your service won't be nice. At my restaurant our managers also remember you!!!!!

I never bothered leaving much of a tip for those who served me. As a teacher, I felt that I had worked too hard to give THEM my money. Later, I worked as a cook/waiter.For a good server, 15% to 20% seems fair.
I love this web site. I always tip 20% and can't wait to give a tip chart to my friend who tends to be a strict 15% to the penny tipper. When she and I go out to eat together, I frequently wait until she goes to the ladies' room at the end of the meal and quietly add some money to the tip so our server makes out well instead of just "okay". Can I please get a tipping chart. I find that when I am ready to pay my bill after a meal I seem to go blank and when I get home I end up giving either too little or too much. Help please
