What
Qualities Do
We Love to See in a Server?
Thanks
for your input, Sammie!
C'mon,
guys....this isn't rocket science. Common sense plays a big
part here, treat your customers like you would like to be treated.
Smile
Be neat and
clean.
Be pleasant.
Smile.
Bring your
customer's order out in a reasonable amount of time.
Any problems?
Handle them with grace, quickly and efficiently.
Keep your
section clean. Heck, help keep the entire front of the house clean.
Smile
Most of your
customers really don't give a rat's ass about your problems. They
have their own. Leave your problems at the door.
Know the
specials.
Know your menu,
and be able to recommend items when the customer asks.
Repeat your
customers' orders. You'll catch your mistakes, and give them a
chance to make sure they want what they ordered.
If your memory
is poor or you have a short attention span, write the order
down! Personally, I would rather impress my guest with a perfect order;
not my
perfect memory.
Quit hanging
around the service station bitching about your life and discussing
your latest drunken adventures.

Slow section?
Schmooze with the tables you do have. Get 'em laughing. It will
show in your tip, and it looks better to everyone when you're visiting
and
laughing with a guest, instead of sulking around with a sour look on
your face.
Any more ideas? Send 'em in!
